Cricket tournament starts in Helmand

LASHKARGAH (PAN): A five-day cricket tournament is being started on Tuesday in the capital city of the southern Helmand province, an official said on Wednesday.

Provincial Sport Director, Ghulam Ghaus Dawori told Pajhwok Afghan News eight teams of the city are participating in the tournament and the first match of the series had been played between Bust and Lamar teams on first day.

In the opening matches, the Lamar team had defeated the Bust and Ariana crushed Itehad team at the Karzai stadium of the district, he added.

The director informed on a second day matches Zalan would play against Noor and Roshan team to contest against an Afghan team at the same ground.

"We hope that our team will win the series and the players are really optimistic for wining the final match," a player of Lamar team Abdul Matin concluded.
