WFP to distribute 65000 tons wheat in Kandahar

KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): World Food Program (WFP) has announced to distribute around 65000 tons of wheat to poor families in the southern Kandahar province on Wednesday.

Anthony Banbury, WFP Regional Director for Asia during his visit to Kandahar said in an exclusive chat with Pajhwok Afghan News that 33000 tons of the wheat will be distributed to the families in the provincial capital and other 2000 tons of the wheat will be distributed to the families of other districts.

He added around 427,000 poor and needy families will benefit from the wheat in the province. They plan to help schoolteachers, around 6000 war affected families and 30000 other disable and needy families.

A big portion of the aid was provided by the Canadian government in which American and Indian governments have also took apart Banbury added who said that this amount of aid was a portion of the $79 millions which the Afghan government wanted from International Community.

He said around $77 millions of the aid will be allocated for edibles by the WFP and will be distributed to all those families who are high prices affected more than 1800 bags of wheat which have been distributed in Khakrez district.
