Three road construction workers abducted

HERAT CITY (PAN): Three workers of a road construction company were abducted in Balamurghab district of western Badghis province.

Brig. General Muhammad Ayub Niazyar, Badghis police chief told Pajhwok Afghan News on Tuesday that the workers were on the way from Ghormach to Balamurghab district and were abducted by a local Taliban commander Mula Amrudin on Monday late afternoon.

Niazyar said according to the information the abductees have been transferred to Majnunbid village of Balamurghab district.

He said the motives of abduction were not clear and authorities were trying to release the abductees with support of elders and influential.

Taliban did not accept the responsibility for the abduction

A police source said that the abductees were workers of an Afghan construction company who worked with a Chinese company.

The source added the Chinese company has the responsibility of constructing the ring road.
