Taliban infighting leaves one dead, four injured

QALA-I-NAW (PAN): A firefight between two Taliban groups left one dead and four injured in the northwestern Badghis province, an official said on Thursday.

Badghis Police chief, Brig Gen Muhammad Ayub Niazyar told Pajhwok Afghan News the fight between Mullah Bahauddin and Mullah Dastagir erupted late Wednesday in Dokoon area in Bala Murghab district.

Mullah Shah Mahmud, a Taliban militant from the side of Mullah Bahauddin was killed and another four were injured during the firefight, he said adding that the clash erupted as the two sides faced internal differences.

One police vehicle previously grabbed by the Taliban was also damaged during the clash, said a security source on the condition of anonymity. The Taliban has not yet issued any comments.
