Taliban commander nabbed in Zabul

QALAT (PAN): Law enforcers in southern Zabul province on Thursday informed arresting a local Taliban commander.

Col Ghulam Jilani Farahi told Pajhwok Afghan News the detained Mulla Masom came in police custody following a police operation in Spina Ghabargai area of Qalat capital city of the province with PRG and Russian rifle and two motorbikes.

The detained was being interrogated, he added.

To turn down or accept statements by the security personnel the armed militant have so far not issued any comments on the arrest.

Local officials have also claimed rounding up two suspected militants in Shinaki district of the province only one day ago.

Meanwhile security officials have recovered a decapitated body of Naeem a local resident of Qalat city.

Jilani blamed unknown assailants for the heinous act. Body of the victim was found in an empty building here, security personnel added.

A recent survey, conducted by Ministry of Counter Narcotics and the United Nations Office on Drug Crimes (UNODC), has showed that eight percent of the Afghan population has been addicted to drugs.
