KUNDUZ CITY (PAN) Taliban militants attacked Dashti Archi District headquarters in the northern province of Kunduz early this morning and killed the district police chief along with three other police, an official said Wednesday.

Shaikh Sadee District Governor told Pajhwok Afghan News that last night Taliban insurgents attacked the district police headquarter from the sides of the building.

District Police Chief Noor Kahn, who is brother of the Kunduz governor Engineer Omar, was killed along with three other police killed.

After a few hours battle between them, the Taliban escaped from the area and caused casualties, said Sahikh Sadee.

Taliban spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahed claims that they killed nine other police on the force besides the police chief.

He also said that they captured the district headquarter for a few hours and then fled from the area safely.

An eyewitness, Sayed Raheem, says that two shops also were burned during this fighting.
