Rehmatullah Afghan - Oct 10, 2009 - 16:17

PUL-I-ALAM (PAN): US-led coalition troops and Afghan intelligence operatives have killed two civilians and a militant in Pul-i-Alam, capital of central Logar province, a police chief said on Saturday.

The fatalities happened in Kaji village, where the combined force stormed into a house during a predawn swoop, provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Ghulam Mustafa Mohseni said.

He informed Pajhwok Afghan News the security forces killed one militant and two of his hosts during the three-hour operation. The dead were identified as Jalaluddin, his spouse and their guest Karimullah.

Mohseni claimed Karimullah, a resident of Babus desert, was a local Taliban commander. Jalaluddin's mother, wounded during the action, was taken to a coalition health facility for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, a resident said Jalaluddin worked for a non-governmental organisation (NGO) and had no links to militants.

In a separate operation in Pakhtunabad area on the outskirts of the provincial capital, the coalition forces detailed three suspected individuals. Mohseni gave no further details of the crackdown.
