KABUL): Fifteen Afghans were among dozens of people wounded in a string of attacks on Shiite pilgrims in Iraq on Monday, a media report said.
At least one pilgrim was killed in a roadside bombing, targeting devotees on their way to the city of Karbala, the Associated Press (AP) reported. Nine others were wounded in the blast.
The news agency quoted Iraqi police as saying that a car bomb injured 15 Afghan pilgrims, three of them seriously.
The attacks came ahead of the Arbaeen festival, due later in the month, marking 40 days after the Ashura Hussein.
On Thursday, 70 people were killed and more than 100 wounded in attacks on Shiites in Baghdad and southern Iraq.
