KABUL fighters were killed and another 14 were wounded during an ongoing major joint search operation in three provinces, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Friday.
A MoI statement said the operation involving Afghan police, army soldiers backed by foreign troops was ongoing in southeastern Khost, southern Helmand and central Maidan Wardak provinces since past 24 hours.
It said 10 rebels were killed, 14 others wounded and one captured alive.
Nine Kalashnikovs with six magazines, one machinegun, two rocket shells, four roadside bombs, seven hand grenades, 20 kilograms of explosives, two suicide vests and one motorbike were seized during the operation, the statement said.
In southern Zabul and eastern Laghman province, local officials said that four anti-vehicle bombs recently planted by the Taliban were discovered in Shahjoi and Alingar districts.
