KABUL distanced themselves from the assassination of parliamentarian Ahmad Khan Samangani, who was killed in a suicide attack on his daughter’s wedding party in Abyak, the capital of nortehrn Samangan province, on Saturday morning.
Rebel spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said the movement’s fighters were not involved in the attack that killed the lawmaker, provincial National Directorate of Security (NDS) chief Khan Muhammad and several other top officials.
Dozens of wedding guests, including the police chief of western zone Said Ahmad, were injured when the attacker blew up himself outside the entrance to hall.
“It is too early to say who was involved in the killing. The MP had many enemies and disputes in the area. Local Taliban leaders have not given any information on the incident yet,” he said.
