KABUL over the suicide bombing that inflicted casualties on about 95 worshipers in northern Faryab province, the Presidential Palace said in a statement.
On Friday, 41 people were killed and 56 others injured at the entrance of a mosque in Maimana, the provincial capital, when a suicide bomber blew up himself, as worshipers were leaving after the Eid al- Adha prayers.
Scores of security men and civilians were killed in the deadly morning attack.
In his message to President Hamid Karzai, Turkish President Abdullah Gül expressed his deep sympathy, saying “in this situation our efforts to enhance regional cooperation with Afghanistan has increased, we strongly denounce the attack.”
Stressing Turkey’s continued support for Afghanistan, Gul extended his condolences to the victims’ families and prayed for early recovery of the injured.
Meanwhile, the Spanish government in a message also condemned the terrorist attack in Faryab and expressed its overall support for Afghans and the nation.
“Spain once again voiced its solidarity with Afghanistan in the war against terrorism,” said the statement and wished Afghans a bright future with long lasting peace, stability and development.
French Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “France expresses its condolences to the people of Afghanistan and families of the security personnel who lost their lives in the attack.”
