KABUL): Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Thursday urged healthcare practitioners to be more patient friendly and be courteous to their visitors.
During his biweekly radio speech, Karzai asked staff to be well-mannered when treating patients and handling visitors because their rights had to be respected too.
“I heard patients were badly treated in some healthcare centres and hospitals, so I hope all doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers will have good attitude when dealing with patients and their visitors according to medical ethics,” Karzai said.
Medical negligence should not occur and all patients deserved to be treated properly when under the care of healthcare practitioners, added the president.
He also asked patients and their visitors to respect hospital and healthcare centre rules and pay attention to cleanliness while on the premises.
