MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): A motorcyclist was killed after being hit by NATO-led troop’s vehicle in the northern province of Balkh on Saturday, an official said.
Ghulam Rasul died on the spot as he crashed his bike into the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) vehicle in Kamarband area on the eastern outskirts of Mazar-i-Sharif at 7:30am.
A traffic police officer, Zalmay, told Pajhwok Afghan News the foreign ISAF soldiers tried to flee the scene, but they stopped them in the Zaraat Karta area of the city and were under interrogation.
A statement from the ISAF media office said that after the incident, the forces liaised with Afghan police at the scene, who advised the ISAF route clearance patrol to move away as a crowd was gathering.
“ISAF takes all civilian casualties seriously and, along with Afghan officials, is currently conducting an assessment to determine the facts,” the statement added.
