JALALABAD (PAN): A legislator said on Tuesday he had escaped unhurt in an armed attack in eastern Nangarhar province near the Pakistan border.
Lutfullah Baba, a member of the Wolesi Jirga from the province, told Pajhwok Afghan News he survived the attack in the Sarobi area on his way from Jalalabad to Kabul.
Several bullets hit his vehicle, the lawmaker said, adding his security guards traded fire with the attackers for 10 minutes. The assailants fled when security personnel reached the scene.
However, the Sarobi district chief, Hazrat Mohammad Haqbin, said he was unaware of the incident.
On Sunday night, Fareshta Anwari, also a member of the Wolesi Jirga from the same province, survived a similar attack in Tangi area on the Kabul-Jalalabad highway.
