KABUL): The Ministry of Interior on Monday said security personnel had confiscated 34 weapons and thousands of unregistered SIM cards during operations in Kabul.
The weapons, most of them pistols, were seized from a house in the eighth police district, the ministry spokesman, Gulam Siddique Siddiqui, told a press conference.
More than 4,800 unregistered SIM cards belonging to different companies and six forged driving licenses were seized by police during a separate operation in the limits of the third police district, he added.
Nine suspects were detained in connection with the two cases, the official said, adding some of the detainees were involved in stealing goods from logistic convoys of NATO-led troops.
