KABUL Breshna Sherkat (DABS) and an Indian firm in Kabul on Saturday.
Under the agreement, KEC International Limited–India will build a 220 kv transmission line from the Chimtala substation to a similar facility in Arghandi area, DABS said in a statement.
This line is aimed at transporting a minimum of 180 mw of electricity from the Chimtala substation, which receives power from the Pul-i-Khumri substation, around 250km north of Kabul, to Qala-i-Mohib, Chel Dukhtaran and other areas.
The project, which is estimated to cost id=”mce_marker”9.628 Million, is being implemented under the Energy Sector Development Investment Programme (ESDIP). It is expected to be completed by the end of December 2014.
Once the transmission line and the substation in Arghandi were completed, electricity will be provided to 40,000 households and businesses in Qala-i-Mohib and Chel Dukhtaran.
