The training centre commander, Brig. Gen. Abdul Baseer Syedkheli, said at a ceremony held in this regard that the Afghans would honestly perform their duty and would work to further develop and improve the centre.
“We have learnt many skills both theoretically and practically from international advisors and our allies over the past years. I assure that the Ministry of Interior will try to continue imparting professional and practical trainings to police recruits at the centre,” he added.
Italian trainer Alexander de.Ferary said Afghan police had bravely protected citizens and coped with challenges. He said foreign trainers had transferred every required skill to the Afghan police and they did their job accurately .
MoI official Lt. Gen. Mashooq said there were currently 13 training centres in Afghanistan and training responsibility at 10 centres had so far been shifted to the Afghan authority. The remaining three centres in Kunduz, Balkh and Kandahar would be handed to the ministry soon, he added.
Coordinating Director for Rule of Law and Law Enforcement at the US Embassy in Kabul, Stephen McFarland, told the ceremony that the international community’s assistance with Afghanistan would not end with completion of the security transition.
