KABUL): President Hamid Karzai on Tuesday asked the authorities concerned to accelerate their efforts at reaching out to floods’ victims with relief supplies in central Maidan Wardak and southeastern Paktika provinces.
The floods reportedly killed nine people and injured more than a dozen in Wardak and Paktika, in addition to leaving thousands of families homeless and large swathes of agriculrual lands inundated.
A statement issued from the Presidential Palace said Karzai expressed his deep concern over the loss of life and property in the natural disaster.
He asked the Afghanistan Natural Disasters Management Authority to provide relief supplies to the affected families on emergency footing..
Karzai expressed his sympathies with the affected families and urged them to endure the flood situation and use unity as power to overcome the crisis.
