KABUL): Two schools — one in western Herat province and another in northern Balkh province — have won the International School Award instituted by the British Council, officials said on Tuesday.
The award, an accreditation given by the British Council for schools which incorporate ‘Internationalism’ in their curriculum, was received by the Tajrobavi High School for boys in Herat and the Bibi Fatema High School for girls in Balkh at a ceremony held in this regard in Kabul.
Speaking on the occasion, Education enjoyed at the international level.
He said: “It is a pride moment for Afghanistan, particularly for the education ministry as our schools are wining international awards for offering quality education in the world.”
John Mitchell, the British Council’s Director in Afghanistan, said winning the award by the two Afghan schools showed education sector in Afghanistan had considerably improved.
“It is fortunate, there are schools in Afghanistan now winning international awards and becoming part of global education activities.”
Annually, about 1,000 schools from across the world apply for the International School Award.
