KABUL, media reports said on Thursday.

The pilotless aircraft fired two missiles at a compound in Qutabkhel village, five kilometres south of Miranshah. the agency headquarters. Four fighters were killed and a fifth wounded, Dawn reported.

Although identities of those killed in the midnight strike were not immediately known, officials believed they were of Afghan origin. Residents pulled out the bodies charred beyond recognition.

According to the Express News, a private TV channel, loud explosions were heard on the outskirts of Miranshah. “We heard the sound of drones hovering in the sky,” a tribesman was quoted as saying.

Last week, the UN General Assembly adopted a unanimous resolution against the use of armed drones in foreign territories. The 193-member body urged the United States to comply with international laws for its use of unmanned aerial vehicles.
