PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Nearly 3,000 families in two districts have started benefiting from development projects recently completed in northern Baghlan province, an official said Friday.

Abdul Hasib Syedkheli, the National Solidarity Programme manager at the provincial Rural Development Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the projects had been inaugurated for public use.

The schemes included two canal cleaning projects and the construction of bridges, retaining walls and two small dams in Jalga and Khost districts.

Work on the projects took six months and cost 12 million afghanis to complete and benefited more than 3,000 families, he said.

Qari Hamidullah, a Jalga dweller, said the two canals had been cleaned in their area and that residents were satisfied with the work.
