HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Five tankers supplying oil from neighbouring Iran caught fire and were burnt in the Islam Qala locality of western Herat province, an official said on Thursday.
He said the fire erupted when one of the drivers was smoking a cigarette close to the oil tanker. The fire engulfed all five tankers within no time, the police spokesman said.
Abdul Rauf Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News that security forces took swift action and managed to prevent the rest of 50 oil tankers parked in the area from catching oil.
