KABUL” during military operations against militants.
At a meeting in Peshawar on Wednesday, almost all political parties put up a rare show of unity on establishing a committee to work out a plan to counter terrorism.
“The committee will submit a plan within a week and that will be discussed with all stakeholders, including the army, before its implementation,” Nawaz Sharif said.
At a press conference after a meeting of parliamentary parties, he said: “There will be no distinction between good and bad Taliban. The nation will continue this war with full resolve till elimination of the last terrorist.”
Tuesday’s attack on an army-run school in Peshawar, where 141 people were killed, had brought political leadership together to demonstrate political unity against the extremists, Sharif added.
He continued Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, who also attended the meeting, had agreed to help steer the country out of crisis and call off his protest
Sharif called the massacre of students and teachers a big “human tragedy” and said the terrorists had carried out the barbaric attack when they were on the run because of the Zarb-i-Azb military operation.
He went on to say that militants fled to neighboring Afghanistan to escape the military offensive in North Waziristan. Islamabad and Kabul would take joint action against miscreants.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, the prime minister claimed, had reiterated that insurgents would not be allowed to use Afghan soil.
Faiz Muhammad Zaland, political analyst, told Pajhwok Afghan News civilians on both sides of Durand Line had been the victims of Taliban-linked violence.
Referring to the Peshawar school attack, Zaland said it was a tragic incident that had forced the Pakistani government to act against insurgents of all descriptions.
