MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Police in northwestern Faryab province recovered 63 kilograms of opium from a car during routine checking and held one suspect, an official said on Sunday.
The illicit substance was canceled in a gas cylinder which was recovered by police in the Andkhoi district, police chief Brig. Gen. Mohammad Nabi Ilham told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Separately, officials of National Directorate of Security (NDS) detained two peddlers and recovered 80 kilograms of heroin from their possession in Qaisar district.
Abdul Jamil Siddiqui, the district administrative chief, confirmed the arrests by the spy agency. He said the detainees were dangerous individuals and had links with mafia.
