KABUL (WJ), an official said on Saturday.
CEO spokesperson Mujib Rahimi told Pajhwok Afghan News a series of meetings were being held between the two leaders to introduce more cabinet nominees to the lower house without further delay.
“Both leaders have held negotiations to finalise names for ministries and introduce them to the lower house for a vote of confidence. The talks will reach a conclusion soon,” he hoped.
If the two leaders concluded their talks on a successful note, the president may issue a decree on summoning the Wolesi Jirga, which rose for its 45-day winter recess two days back, he added.
At least 17 ministers-designate are yet to get votes of trust. The Wolesi Jirga — like the Meshrano Jirga — was due to start its break on January 20.
But the assembly had to postpone its vacation to approve the budget and finalise the trust vote process. The jirga approved the budget and endorsed nine ministers, rejecting 10 of the presidential choices.
