MEHTARLAM (Pajhwok): The execution of four welfare projects has resolved problems earlier faced by thousands of residents in eastern Laghman province, the governor said on Tuesday.
Abdul Jabar Naeemi, while inaugurating the projects after their completion, told Pajhwok Afghan News the schemes included the construction of a mosque in Alingar district and gravelling of a 9.18-kilometre road in Qarghae district.
He said a two-storey building for an agriculture school in Basram village of Mehtarlam, the provincial capital, and a protective wall in Qarghae district had also been constructed.
All the projects, Naeemi said, cost 47.5 million afghanis. He called the projects vital for security, construction and resolving people’s problems.
He said the projects were also vital for creation of employment and urged the residents to play their part in safeguarding them.
Atiqullah Abdul Rahimzai, provincial council member, welcomed execution of the projects and said reconstruction works were people’s fundamental demand.
He said with the road gravelling in Qarghae, farmers’ problems would be resolved and they could easily bring their harvests to the market.
