KABUL (MoPH) has been arrested for allegedly taking $80,000 in bribe, the Attorney General Office (AGO) said on Tuesday.

AGO’s control and observation attorney chief Nawab Ahmadzai told Pajhwok Afghan News  that the MoPH had signed a contract with an Afghan firm to make 300,000  protective cloths and face masks.

He said some officials of the MoPh Central Natural Stock were demanding money from the firm over the past one month.

He said a man from the Central Natural Stock was arrested on charges of taking $ 80,000 as part of the total bribe $300,000 from the firm at around 10:30am today Tuesday.

Pajhwok tried to have comment of the certain firm’s officials but failed.

Pajhwok made contact with the MoPH spokesman AkmalSamsor but he said information in this regard would be shared later.

On April 6, a factory started operations with an investment of one million dollars to make protective equipment in Kabul.

The MoPH at the time said that the factory would produce 500,000 protective cloths per month, with one protective cloth costing five dollars against its international market rate of $60.
