Shinwari uprising residents to be hired in border police

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Public uprising members in eastern Nangarhar province would be recruited in the Afghan Border Police (ABP) force, local officials said on Sunday.

The Nangarhar governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News that a high-ranking official at the Ministry of Interior (MoI), Lt. Gen. Salem Ehsas, at the head of a delegation visited the 1st Border Brigade Headquarters and promised hiring uprising members in the ABP.

Ehsas also ordered police officials to establish a 9th Border Police Battalion for further strengthening the ABP in the eastern zone and recommended the hiring of Shinwari tribe uprising residents in the battalion.

Khogyani said the delegation also held out special promises for ensuring security in Jalalabad city, the provincial capital.

Meanwhile, MoI officials said they had a plan to pave the way for establishing four more police districts in Jalalabad city next year and would also expand police formation there.

There are two police districts and seven police stations in the city, which are not enough to ensure security.
