2 rescued as kidnap gang busted in Nangarhar

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A 10-member kidnapper gang has been arrested in eastern Nangarhar province, where two kidnapped persons were rescued and reunited with their families, the governor said Sunday.

Nangarhar Governor Mohammad Gulab Mangal told a news conference here that an 18-year-old youngster, Aimal, abducted about one month back in Qala-i-Akhwand area of Kama district, had been rescued from his kidnappers.

He said the teenager was set free and reunited with his family as a result of continued efforts by National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) personnel.

The boy was rescued from his captors in Matakhel area of the district and a 10-member kidnapper gang, including its leader, had been arrested in connection with the incident.

According to Mangal, the gang chief, Khaliul Rahman, hailed from Badpakh area of Laghman province and the remaining group members were from Kama district and Laghman’s Qarghayo district. He said the detainees had confessed to their crimes.

Mangal also informed about the release of a doctor named Jalaluddin, who had been kidnapped from Khogyani district a few days back.
