Rashid sets another record, becomes youngest captain

Mar 05, 2018 - 08:26

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Leg-spin sensation Rashid Khan created yet another record this week when he emerged as the youngest captain in international cricket.

In the absence of Asghar Stanikzai, who was diagnosed with appendicitis, the 19-year-old captained Afghanistaninfo-icon against Scotland in their opening match of the ICC Worldinfo-icon Cup qualifiers.

At 19 years and 165 days of age, Rashid Khan -- the No. 1 Twenty20 bowler -- broke the record held by Bangladesh's Rajin Saleh at 20 years and 297 days of age.

However, the outcome of the match was not enviable for the World's No. 2 ODI bowler, as Scotland trounced Afghanistan by seven wickets.

And to boot, he was trapped leg before for a golden duck. Rashid Khan has bagged 87 wickets in 38 ODIs and 47 in 29 T20Is.
