Over 3,000 Hazaras killed in Balochistan in 8 years
PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Over 3,000 members of the minority Hazara community have been killed in Pakistan over the past seven years, a parliamentary panel was informed on Wednesday.
Lawyer and human rights activist Jalila Haider, briefing the Senate Functional Committee on Human Rights, said the panel should look into the plight of the Shiite community.
She said 10,000 plus Hazara women and children were living in abject conditions, with the restricted rights of freedom of expression and movement.
“More than 90,000 Hazara families have migrated to other countries, only to live in worst conditions. They must be brought back and rehabilitated,” the lawyer said.
Jalila Haider hit out at the Balochistan government for failing to guaranteeing the safety of Hazaras. “There is no writ of law. Hazara women are harassed and there is no security of life for our children.”
