Japan trains Afghan officials on crop diversification

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): A dozen Afghan government officials have completed a training course on crop diversification in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.

The programme, part of its third-country training initiative, was organised by Tokyo in collaboration with partner countries, the Japan International Cooperation Agency was quoted as saying.

In a statement, JICA said Himachal Pradesh -- a hilly state at the foot of the Himalayas -- was selected because of its similarity in terms of agro climate to Afghanistaninfo-icon.

The training is the first of its kind as a joint initiative between JICA offices in India and Afghanistan for the capacity development of Afghan officials.
