Those rejecting peace in service of outsiders: Hekmatyar

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Hezb-i-Islamiinfo-icon Afghanistaninfo-icon (HIA) leader Gulbadin Hekmatyar has said those rejecting peace and hell-bent on prolonging the conflict in Afghanistan are the enemies of the country and Islam.

Addressing an Eidul Adha congregation in Kabul yesterday, Hekmatyar said the Afghans needed peace and mutual understanding, which could help end the conflict and outside interferences in the country’s internal affairs.

He said no excuse should be left for foreign troops to stay in the country by giving the Afghans the chance to decide their fate themselves and form a government and system of their choice.

Hekmatyar said those denying peace and were creating hurdles in the way of peace were enemies of the country and Islam and they were in the service of outsiders.

Two days ago, the Afghan government announced it was ready to declare a three-month ceasefire if the Talibaninfo-icon reciprocated. However, the Taliban have been silent so far.

The HIA leader said real victims of the war in Afghanistan were common people whose houses, mosques and cities were destroyed.

Hekmatyar invited all political parties to join hands toward holding transparent and fair upcoming elections as a best solution to the country’s crisis.
