MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Police kept surrounded the house of a farmer jihadi commander and Mahaz Milli party leader Akhtar Mohammad Ibrahimkhel for a second day on Sunday in northern Balkh province.

Security forces surrounded Ibrahimkhel’s house after three robbers, among them his son, took refuge at the home late Saturday night.

Deputy police chief Abdul Razaq Qaderi told Pajhwok Afghan News that Ibrahimkhel’s son was involved in the stealing of $15000 and 1.5 million afghanis from a money changer’s shop.

But the Mahaz Party leader rejected the case as a conspiracy against him hatched by the current and previous rulers of the province.

Ibrahimkhel told Pajhwok that his son was not involved in the robbing and the drama was being staged to defame him.

He said he was being punished for supporting the central government and most of the provincial officials were linked to politicians or belonged to political parties.

The politician said there was a wedding party at his home where thousands of guests were present when suddenly police and militias forces surrounded his home. He said the wedding party was spoiled and the guests could not eat the reception food.

He claimed police also fired at his guards, injuring two of them. The Mahaz Party director said he had always supported the central government – a reason behind his humiliation.
