KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Currently on a visit to Davos, the chief executive officer (CEO) says the situation regarding troop withdrawal from Afghanistaninfo-icon remains unclear,

Dr. Abdullah referred to statements by top military commanders in Afghanistan that they had not yet received orders about troop withdrawal. “But it might come one way or the other,”

In an interview with the Associated Press, he asked the worldinfo-icon for continued support to his country. The CEO’s call comes after President Donald Trump hinted half of US troops in the country could be pulled out.

“Don’t lose patience. We all made mistakes in the past 18 years,” he admitted, arguing the missteps had helped the Talibaninfo-icon regroup after its ouster from power in 2001.

The US would honour its commitment to staying in Afghanistan and supporting state institutions until till restoration of peace in the country, the CEO hoped.

Abdullah called on Pakistaninfo-icon and other countries with influence on the Taliban to pressure the rebel outfit into entering peace talks with the Afghan government.
