Taliban kidnap 5 policemen in Nuristan

JALALABAD (PANinfo-icon): Talibaninfo-icon militants poisoned and then abducted five policemen who from Waman district of eastern Nuristan province, officials said on Thursday.

The kidnapping happened in Kordal area of the Waman district on Wednesday night, district police chief of neighbouring Waigal district, Commander Akhtar Mohammad told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Two Taliban entered the police checkpoint dressed in ordinary clothes, gave the policemen poisoned food and then took them and their 10 pieces weapons with the help of their other friends, According to Mohammad.

The Taliban have admitted responsibility for the kidnapping. Their spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed they took a police checkpoint, kidnapped 10 policemen and took away 31 weapons.

A week ago, two bodyguards of the Waigal district police chief were kidnapped by the insurgents and are still in captivity.
