Taliban weapons depot destroyed in Laghman

Feb 28, 2011 - 18:11

JALALABAD CITY (PANinfo-icon): Afghan and international forces eliminated an insurgents weapons depot in eastern Laghman province on Monday, officials said.

The depot was discovered in Kalah Kot area, located five kilometres from Mehtarlam city, the provincial capital, Laghman police spokesman, St. Cap. Abdul Razaq, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The weapons included two rockets, five Kalashnikovs, one machinegun, 30 mortar shells, 38 warheads, 50 antipersonnel mines and some explosives, he said.

Security forces did not remove the weapons because there were mines in the area and eliminated the entire depot, he said.

The depot belonged to a Talibaninfo-icon commander named Ghamai, he said.

Ghamai operated against the government in Karwach and Badpakh areas of Laghman province.
