Private radio station goes on air in Kandahar

KANDAHAR CITY (PANinfo-icon): A private radio station launched its broadcast in southern Kandahar province on Saturday, an official said.

Already operating in Kabulinfo-icon and two other provinces, the radio station was set up in 2010 to promote democracy, support civil societyinfo-icon and facilitate access to information.

Nabi Sahil, in charge of Gurbat Radio, told Pajhwok Afghan News they currently covered Faryab, Maidan Wardak and Kandahar provinces.

The radio station airs broadcasts for 18 hours at a frequency 91.7 MHz. In the near future, Gurbat will cover other provinces of the country, according to Sahil.
