Mar 19, 2011 - 14:00

SAR-I-PUL CITY(PANinfo-icon): A Talibaninfo-icon-designated judge has been killed in an airstrike by coalition forces in the northern province of Sar-i-Pul, officials said on Saturday.

The shadow judge identified as Abdullah was killed on Friday night in Al-Mulk village of Siyad district, commander of the security forces coordination centre, Gen. Abdul Samad Zazai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Three suspected Taliban were also detained with weapons and ammunition in the area by the international troops, he said.

The district chief, Mir Hussain Sajjadi, said civilians suffered no casualties in the strike, the third such attack targeting Taliban group leaders in Siyad district over the past two months.

On Feb. 06, a Taliban-designated district chief, Zubair, was killed during a search operation by Afghan forces in the district.
