JALALABAD (PAN): Five civilians and a policeman were killed when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday, officials said.
Another two people were injured in the blast that took place in the Fateh Mina area of Lalpura district, the governor’s spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The dead included five labourers working on construction projects in the area and a policeman travelling in the vehicle, the official said. However, it was not immediately clear which company the workers were associated with.
Border police commander in the east, Gen. Aminullah Amarkhel, said two policemen were wounded when militants attacked them in the Fateh Mina area. He added the attackers also suffered causalities when the police returned fire.
Police spokesman, Idris Momand, said a border policeman was killed in the attack on workers of the construction company.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed the fighters fired three missiles at the headquarters of international forces in the area, destroying an armoured vehicle and two weapon depots.
