AIBAK (PAN): With the launch of 35 projects in Aibak, the capital of northern Samangan province, 1,100 people have been provided work opportunities, an official said on Tuesday.

The projects costing 29 million afghanis ($627,977), funded by United States Agency for International Development, were being implemented by Mercy Corps, the director of economy, Ahmad Farid Khudajo, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The schemes would be completed in 30 villages in two months, he said, adding skilled workers would be paid 500 afghanis and unskilled labourers 250 afghanis a day.

Khudajo said the projects included retaining walls, water reservoirs, cleaning of nine canals, reconstruction of an entertainment park and some training courses.
