MAIDAN SHAHR (PAN): Four civilians, including a prayer leader, were detained by foreign troops in Syedabad district of central Maidan Wardak province, an official said on Wednesday.

The men were arrested in Shaniz area late on Tuesday, the district chief, Fazal Karim Muslim, told Pajhwok Afghan News. Afghan forces did not take part in the operation, he said.

Mohammad Qasim, a resident, said foreign forces raided a house in the area and arrested the owner and his two guests. The troops also detained the imam, he said, adding the detainees had no links to any militant group.

But NATO were arrested by a joint Afghan and international security force during the operation in the district.
