GARDEZ (PAN): Three people were killed and another 10 injured as a result of a clash between two families over a piece of land in southeastern Paktia province on Wednesday, an official said.

The clash took place in the Karmashi area on the outskirts of provincial capital, Gardez, the governor’s spokesman, Roohullah Samoon, told Pajhwok Afghan News. The two sides used knives and sticks during the fight.

Two of the wounded people were taken to a hospital in Kabul in a critical condition, the official said, adding policemen had been sent to the area to end the clash.

Ahmadullah, a resident, said the dead included three members of a family. The injured were also from the same family.

Another witness, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the two sides stabbed each other with knives and also used sticks.
