LASHKARGAH (PAN): The process of distribution of the United Arab Emirates-donated food assistance to hundreds of deserving families started in southern Helmand province on Thursday.

As many as 1,500 families from the provincial capital and districts would receive the aid, Governor Gulab Mangal told Pajhwok Afghan News while distributed food items in Lashkargah.

Parliamentarian from Helmand Nasimi Niazi had played a vital role in bringing the assistance to the province, the governor said, adding the recipients had been nominated by a government-appointed commission.

The aid would be delivered in a transparent manner, Mangal promised. Each family will receive 50 kilograms of wheat flour, five kg of ghee, 10 kg of beans, 10 kg of sugar and clothes.
