50b afs spent on health sector annually: minister

A survey conducted by the Ministry of Public Health shows three billion afs were provided by the government, 9.5 billion afs by donors and the rest by Afghan families.

Acting Public Health Minister Dr. Suraya Dalil told journalists at a ceremony, marking the launch of the ministry’s first annual report in Kabul, efforts were being made to minimise people’s spending on health problems.

On March 31, the acting minister said they were working on a policy that required patients to pay for treatment at public-sector hospitals. However, the constitution says the government must provide free medical services to people.
