KABUL): Pakistani leadership on Wednesday greeted Afghan President Hamid Karzai on the 19th anniversary of Mujahidin’s Victory Day, which will be marked on Thursday.
A statement from the Pakistan embassy in Kabul quoted President Asif Zardari as saying: “Our two countries enjoy close brotherly relations based on common religion, history, culture and values.
“The deep-rooted interaction between our nations provides enormous opportunities for promoting peace, progress and development. Our efforts for strengthening bilateral cooperation and partnership reflect hope and promise.”
Prime Minister Gilani said his country attached great importance to ties of friendship and amity with Afghanistan. “We are keen to strengthen this bond of fraternity through cooperation in diverse fields.”
Gilani recalled his recent visit to Kabul that gave the two sides an opportunity of useful interaction to promote mutual harmony. “There is a need for the two sides now to implement the various decisions arrived at.”
According to the statement, the top Pakistani leaders prayed for lasting peace, progress and prosperity of Afghanistan.
