KANDAHARCITY (PANinfo-icon): Talibaninfo-icon fighters killed a tribal elder and former parliamentary candidate in the southern province of Kandahar on Monday, an official said.

Sarwar Jan was shot dead at about 7am when he came out of his residence in Kandahar City, deputy police chief, Col. Sher Shah Yusufzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The militants fled the scene after shooting the elder in the Mirwais Mina area. A search operation has been launched to track down the killers, he said.
