CHARIKAR commander in the central province of Parwan, officials said on Saturday.
The ex-jihadi leader Azizullah was traveling in Syad Gard district when militants intercepted his vehicle on Friday, the district chief, Abdul Alim Mujaddadi, told Pajhwok Afghan News. His dead body was found in Qul Masaud area, the official said.
Azizullah had no government job, but he was a supporter of the Karzai’s administration, Mujaddadi said.
A resident of the area, Abdul Waheed, said the former jihadi was an influential figure in the area.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said Azizullah was a tribal militia commander. He was detained and killed by the Taliban, he said.
