Child dies in Badghis mine blast

Child dies in Badghis mine blast

May 20, 2011 - 17:24

QALA-I-NAW (PANinfo-icon): A child was killed by a roadside bomb blast in the Bala Murghab district of Badghis province on Friday, police said.

The 12-year-old was grazing sheep when he stepped on a mine that went off in Joy Ganj area, killing him on the spot, police chief, Col. Mohammad Jabbar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.  He blamed the Talibaninfo-icon for planting the bomb against foreign and local forces.

A tribal elder, Nooruddin, said the boy was taking his animals to home from a nearby pasture when he found a landmine. He was playing with the bomb when it detonated, he said.
