4 policemen killed in Khost attack

KHOST CITY (PANinfo-icon): Four policemen were killed and five other people injured on Sunday, in a clash with suicide bombers in the southeastern province of Khost, officials said.

Two suicide bombers stormed traffic police department at 5am in Khost City, the capital of the province, a security official told Pajhwok Afghan News on condition of anonymity.

The traffic police department has three-storey building near the quick reaction police headquarters, department of agricultureinfo-icon, irrigation and livestock , the United Nation Assistance Mission for Afghanistaninfo-icon (UNAMA) and a checkpoint of border police.

Four dead bodies of police and five injured people were taken to Khost civil hospital, a doctor of the hospital, who did not want to disclose his name, said.

Talibaninfo-icon spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said that several suicide bombers forced into quick reaction police headquarters and engaged in the clash with Afghan security forces.
